Data center site development & utilities — St. Louis County, MO

St. Louis County · 2024

Project summary

For a data center campus in St. Louis County, Kuesel handled site development from clearing to finished subgrade. Existing storm and sanitary lines were removed or abandoned with grout fill, the site was mass graded, and building and pavement subgrade was set to ±0.10' with a Type 5 gravel surface.

Utility work included 3,680 LF of PVC and RCP storm with 23 precast structures and three complete bio-retention ponds, 518 LF of 30" PE sanitary sewer with five manholes, and more than 1,800 LF of 8" C900 water main with hydrants, gate valves and a post indicator valve for the building fire line.

Challenge → approach

Old storm and sanitary lines ran through the new campus footprint. Rather than leave voids under a mission-critical building, Kuesel removed what it could and grout-filled what was abandoned in place before mass grading and building the new utility network, including the PIV-controlled fire line.
