For Civil & Geotechnical Engineers.

Kuesel Excavating Co. self-performs lime stabilization, cement stabilization, full-depth reclamation, and subgrade drying from our headquarters in O'Fallon, Missouri. We work to your design: the geotechnical engineer of record and the lab mix design govern the agent, rate, and depth. Here is how we can help while you design.

Kuesel's soil stabilization and FDR division also operates as St. Louis Soil Stabilization.

Early budget pricing: stabilization vs. undercut

Send the geotech report and rough quantities during design and we'll price both in-place stabilization and undercut-and-replace, so the comparison is on the table before the spec is locked. Pricing depends on the information available at that stage, and it gets firmer as the plans develop.

Constructability review of stabilization specs

We read stabilization specs from the field side: how depth, application rate, mellowing time for lime, moisture, compaction, and curing fit together on a real schedule, and where sequencing with grading and paving could cause problems. The engineer of record keeps every design decision; we flag what will be hard to build.

Coordination with the testing agency

Quality-control testing belongs to the owner's testing agency. We schedule proof rolls and test windows with that agency and the general contractor so testing happens when the work is ready, as we did with Reinhardt Construction on the MU Walton Stadium Track & Soccer Upgrade.

Lunch-and-learns

Bring us in for your team.

Engineering firms can request a lunch-and-learn on topics such as stabilization vs. undercut, lime vs. cement, full-depth reclamation, or what a stabilization spec needs so it can be built as written. Tell us the topic and a preferred date and we'll follow up to confirm.
