Kuesel Excavating Co. was founded in August of 1963 in O'Fallon, Missouri, and has spent more than six decades building the infrastructure that the St. Louis region depends on. From mass excavation and grading to water and sewer systems, soil stabilization, and specialty civil work, our reputation has been earned one project at a time.
More than a change in ownership. A continuation of legacy.
In September of 1999, Mike and Becky Steiniger acquired Kuesel Excavating and, over the next 24 years, expanded its capabilities and established it as a trusted name throughout the heavy civil industry.
In October of 2023, after a quarter-century of stewardship, they passed the company to the next generation of the family: Matt Steiniger, Mark Steiniger, and Tim Steiniger.
This transition was more than a change in ownership — it was the continuation of a family legacy. As lifelong members of the Kuesel family, the current owners bring a deep understanding of the company's people, its clients, and the standard the Kuesel name has long represented. Our goal is to honor that legacy while continuing to strengthen the company for the decades ahead.
