Freight terminal building expansion – site development & utilities — Fenton, MO

St. Louis County · 2024

Project summary

This freight terminal in Fenton, St. Louis County, needed room to grow, and Kuesel delivered the whole site package for the building addition. Crews cleared the site, took out the existing pavement and storm structures, mass graded, and built the addition's pad with 12,400 tons of 1" minus structural fill.

Below grade, Kuesel installed more than 2,400 LF of RCP storm sewer, 38 precast structures, two underground detention systems, a sanitary run and more than 2,000 LF of water main with four hydrants and an 8" fire riser. The work was permitted through MSD and St. Louis County.

Challenge → approach

The addition had to sit where pavement and storm structures already were. Kuesel removed them first, then rebuilt the ground as an engineered structural-fill pad and replaced the drainage with underground detention, so the new building and the storm system went in as one sequenced package.
